S.S Badger/Wisconsin and more.

So many things to say so many pictures. This is us waiting to board the S.S Badger. Can you spot the camper?

 The total cost for the F150 and the Airstream and the two of us was $377.70.  Not bad considering what we would have paid in gas. Plus it gave us something to talk about.

 The total trip to Wisconsin only lasted 4 hours. We spent those hours watching a movie, having breakfast, taking way too many pictures and just relaxing.

This ferry felt like a small cruise. That is one of the passenger rooms that you can rent. The only thing that was missing was the soft serve yogurt machine.

 

  Once we docked in Wisconsin we headed to Cliffside County Park. This park was 2 hour away.

We stayed at this campground so we would have a home base to sight see. We stayed here for two
days. Our site (3) was just water and electric, but it was a very spacious site and lots of trees. The best sites to me at this campground are: 1,3,4,41,91,43. This park is a gem. The price was $23.00 per day.

The next day we went on a Brewery Tour at Millers Brewery. The tour is free and last about 1.5 hours. At the end of the tour you have the option to sample three of the Miller beers.

We left there and went to the Harley Davidson Museum. So many bikes and items that I did not know they made. The cost to get into the museum is $20.00 person.

Today makes one week we have been on the road. The next day we headed to another state park, Mirror Lake State Park. Its located in Baraboo Wisconsin. We got a great spot (72). Its large and private. The site is only electric but that is ok with us. We stayed there for 3 days.

After we got all set-up we ate lunch and headed to town. This town reminds me of Gatlinburg Tennessee. If you ever been to Gatlinburg you will understand by these pictures. We walked around the town it was quiet just the way we like it, after all it was only Thursday. We got ice cream and I purchased this cute dress, Mike bought some tee shirts because he ran out of clean shirts. He packed more winter items never expecting the weather to be so nice this time of year. It was 90 degrees all week.
This place is a tourist heaven or trap you choose. Most of the attractions were closed for the season but it was a site to see. I saw at least 3-4  small amusements parks and much more.

The next day we went for a hike to Echo Rock. Its located in the the state park. It is a short and easy walking trail that leads to a point and overlook onto Mirror Lake. The trail connects to Ishnalla trails which was a beautiful trail.

The next day we went out on the lake in the Kayak. I now understand why they call it Mirror Lake. this was a calm and beautiful lake. We only made it to one side if the lake. We stayed out on the water for 3 hour or more.

Camping on the streets?

Thursday September 14. (Finally able to post the road trip there was no Internet).

We drove to Eaton Rapids Michigan to the Urban Air event. This is an unique urban camping events that occurs every year. This event attracts people with Airstream's from all states.  The event helps small town America by lining the main streets in Airstream's, supporting the local businesses and giving to the local community center.

This event last all weekend.  We arrived around 8 pm, and was escorted to our spot. They have an itinerary for each day filled with a variety of things to do.

Friday September 15th. 

 Michael and I went to explore as many Airstream's as we could. I saw so many different Airstream's, and met so many wonderful people and got a chance here their stories. After doing a lot of walking around and meeting new people we went to dinner at this great restaurant, I just wish I could remember the name.

Saturday September 16th.
After breakfast we loaded on a small bus and went to Millers Farm. This place reminds me of a small scale Greenfield Village. We met the people that work hard to restore and maintain the charm of the city's past. On the site is the 100 year old school, church and Ice-cream store, and much more. Here are a few pictures. Too many to show case.

We went on a house tour. These homes are restored and just look amazing. You could see the joy in the owners faces as they gave us a tour. Sorry no pictures I was too busy looking at all the beauty. Later that night there was a spaghetti dinner where all the money goes to the local charity.   This gives us another chance to socialize and relax. After the dinner we went to the  park were we watched a movie under the stars. Chad Carlson the event planner even surprised us with some popcorn and drinks. He is the best, we purchased our Airstream from him in Grand Rapids at Woodland Travel Center.
This was a great three days and I can not wait until next year. Chad is trying to arrange two events one in Eaton Rapids and one in Indiana.
Well on Sunday we headed to Ludington State Park.

Where did Summer go????

Well another invigorating weekend. We packed a lot of activities into this weekend. Our small camping group consisted of 6 people. Michael,Anthony,Karen,Leanette,Tracy and of course me.

We fished (well Leanette fished ) we all watched her fish.

We hiked partway around the park. The hike was fun. We walked to the bridge. That bridge takes you to an island on the state park. The island can be reached by boat/kayak. We did not walk around this island we just did not have any energy left.

We finally took the kayak out. That was fun, just wish we had rented another kayak. We brought ours but it only seats 2 people. So we went out two at a time. Anthony fell into the water trying to get into the kayak. He refused to try again. Something about him and water???

It was a fast paced weekend and left us a little fatigued but at the end of the day the rewards far outweighed the sore feet and fatigue. 

As the summer draws near and I realize I only have two more camping trips left I start to feel sad. I reflect on this weekend and I feel blessed that I have family that enjoys vacationing together.
